What I don't like about Christianity is not necessarily the fakeness of it. All religions and beliefs have their share of imagination. It's the way it has been twisted around. The way I see it, Jesus came up and said "be nice, help out how you can, don't worry about material gain and don't waste your energy hating others, and you will feel much better and find peace and be a better person and you will die happy" and then the Church came up and said "do everything we say, be what we want you to be, give us all your money and material gain and don't you DARE disobey or being different or you're gonna FUCKING BURN IN HELL!" Quite a difference in message there.
I don't mind hearing about other people's beliefs and/or religion and/or spirituality. I like it, actually. I like learning about it and if it is presented in a respectful way, I will listen wide eyed and ask questions. What I hate is how the majority of people try to convert me (or each other, really) to their beliefs. I like to have the freedom of forming my own opinion, thankyouverymuch.
However (and that is why I refer to myself as a pseudo-atheist and not an atheist) I do believe that God/Gods/Goddesses/Whatever exists. That is simply because I believe that when one person invests incredible amounts of energy, time and devotion into something, it is going to exist somewhere in the universe (or at least in their heart and mind, I'll spare you the low-astral theory) so why couldn't it be the case for what thousands and thousands of people have invested energy, time and devotion into?
Ah, anyway, I'm being long-winded there. Sorry about that.
I'm sorry that happened to you (I have the same sort of problems with my mom, actually) but it's good to know you're feeling better now :)
